    Kumarakom Lake Resort wins India’s Leading Resort

    Kumarakom Lake Resort has been declared India’s Leading Resort for the third year in a row. The award, which was given at the World Travel Awards 2008 held last month in Shanghai, was received by Sanjiv Banerjee, Director - Sales & Marketing, Kumarakom Lake Resort.

    Kumarakom Lake Resort is a five-star luxury heritage resort in the island hamlet of Kumarakom. There were ten finalists including Amanbagh Alwar; Angsana Oasis Spa & Resort Bangalore; Fort Aguada Beach Resort; Kairali Ayurvedic Health Resort Kerala; Kumarakom Lake Resort; Taj Lake Palace; Taj Mahal Palace and Towers Mumbai; Leela Palace Kempinski Bangalore; Oberoi Rajvilas and Oberoi Udaivilas.

    Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards has 919 different categories and its 15th year was attended by travel professionals, VIPs, celebrities and media from countries across the region. Miss World, Chinese Zi Lin Zhang, was the Guest of Honour, while TV presenter, Varun Sharma, of BBC World was the host for the evening. The World Travel Awards were conceived to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in the world's travel and tourism industry.
